Direct Folders

There are several ways to access Direct Folders. One of the easiest is to simply double click in the empty area of the desktop, Explorer or File Open/Save dialog box, which brings up a menu. Total Commander and DirectoryOpus are also supported.
Select a favorite or recent folder from this menu and the file dialog immediately jumps to that folder. If you activate this menu from the Desktop or tray icon, this folder will be opened in Windows Explorer or another file manager.
Direct Folders actions when the file dialog opens:
* Resizes the file dialog box.
* Sets the custom files view mode and sort order.

Termite

Termite is an easy to use and easy to configure RS232 terminal. It uses an interface similar to that of "messenger" or "chat" programs, with a large window that contains all received data and an edit line for typing in strings to transmit. Highlights of the utility are the ease of installation (possibly with pre-configured settings) using a heuristic search for the appropriate COM port and, as was mentioned, its user-friendliness.
Other features are:
- Plug-in interface for pre-processing or alternative views of the data, logging received data to a file, adding a toolbar to Termite, and other functionality that you may think of.
- A history of commands that you typed, with auto-completion.
- Resizeable main window, with a "keep window on top" option.
- Ability to run with pre-configured settings from a read-only medium (no installation is necessary).
- Support for non-standard Baud rates (MIDI, DMX512).
- Different colouring for transmitted and received data (blue=transmitted, green=received).
- Data can be forwarded between two RS232 ports.
- Search dialog for transmitted/received text (right-click pop-up menu).
- Save or print the contents of the transmitted/received text (right-click pop-up menu).

SYLT Editor

The SYLT Editor is a utility to create or edit synchronized lyrics (or text) that is embedded in an MP3 track. "SYLT" is a technical acronym for "synchronized lyrics or text", and a SYLT frame resides inside an ID3 tag. Many media players support synchronized lyrics, and a few stand-alone MP3 players support SYLT frames too.
Most editors for synchronized lyrics exist as an add-on (or plug-in) for general purpose media-players. The SYLT Editor is a self-contained utility, however, as it allows for closer integration of the audio playback with the time-stamp editing and a more logical user interface.
Some editors or plug-ins for synchronized lyrics save the lyrics in a different format, such as LRC files. The SYLT Editor, true to its name, creates and edits only SYLT frames, but it supports import and export from/to LRC files.
The SYLT editor was created with wxWidgets and it is available for Microsoft Windows and Linux.

SvnRev

SvnRev is a little program that writes the current revision number of project into a C/C++ header file, a Java package file or a C# class file. This revision number is stored in constants (macros in the case of C/C++), both as a number and as a string. It gets the revision number from the "RCS keywords" that must be present in the source files. SvnRev is specifically designed for the Subversion version control system, but it can also be used with CVS and RCS.
SvnRev is a self-contained utility that does not rely on a particular IDE. SvnRev is a portable utility and should run on every environment on which a conforming C compiler is available. Our aim was to use it from a "makefile" and to attach to a version control system, and specifically to the Subversion system.

Spool

Spool is a small Win32 console utility that sends the contents of a file to the spooler of a Windows printer, bypassing the printer driver. The purpose is to send a raw print file, such as one produced by the "print to file" functionality of Windows and many DOS programs, to a printer.
In our documentation generation system, based on TEX, the source documents are processed to a "DVI" file (device-independent) which then passes through a DVI driver to generate the codes for the specific printer. When the printer is directly connected to the PC, the DVI driver can output to that printer directly, but for printing to a network printer, it must send its output to a file, for later spooling to the printer. This "Spool" utility performs this last step.
There is a handful of utilities like this one; a search for "raw print" or "direct print" on the Internet will uncover both shareware and freeware programs with a similar purpose. Most of these utilities are GUI programs, without command-line support. The Spool utility fits in because it is a freeware, command-line driven utility that prints to either a specific printer or the default printer.

REGDRV - instal kernel drivers in Windows NT/2000/XP/Vista
Kernel drivers in Microsoft Windows NT/2000/XP/Vista must be explicitly registered to be active. This utility,modelled after REGSVR32 (which installs in-process COM servers), is a simple program that does this. Its "silent mode" also makes it convenient for installing drivers from a script or a setup program. The .ZIP file contains a README with usage instructions.
Recent update: the utility is now Vista-compatible, by adding a (self-signed) code certificate and privilege options in the manifest.

This application is based on MiTeC Portable Executable Reader. It reads and displays executable file properties and structure. It is compatible with PE32 (Portable Executable), PE32+ (64bit), NE (Windows 3.x New Executable) and VxD (Windows 9x Virtual Device Driver) file types. .NET executables are supported too.
It enumerates introduced classes, used units and forms for files compiled by Borland compilers.

Cyber-D’s SQL Wizard

Cyber-D’s SQL Wizard can convert any .CSV document to a SQL query. This is typically useful if you receive an Excel document with data that you need to insert into MySQL.
Here is how it works:
1. Export the Excel document as a CSV file (where “;” is used as a separator).
2. Open that file using notepad and copy everything using CTRL+C
3. Run SQL Wizard and paste everything in the “CSV Data to insert” field.
4. Give the columns in the CSV a unique identifier in the “SQL string variables in order of CSV data variables” field. You can use any name you like, as long as it’s between the [square brackets] and seperated by a ;
5. Modify the “SQL Insert Query” field to match your table name and table column names. Use the names you gave to the SQL columns in the query template.
6. Click on “Parse” to generate the SQL Queries. Double check if the query looks good and make modifications as needed. If the query string is too long, then simply copy and paste the generated queries into notepad to see the entire query for inspection.
7. If you are satisfied with the query then simply paste the queries into SQL or save it as a .sql file and load it in MySQL.
This tool can also be used to create any other type of queries if you modify the SQL Insert Query string to your needs.

If you have replaced your floppy drive for a card reader, then you probably have one drive letter reserved per memory card slot. It can get a bit confusing if you insert a card and do not know what drive it ended up in. If you never use the other slots or drives, then you might as well hide them from Windows.

NLM DocMorph

Launched in May 1999, DocMorph is a publicly available Web site that allows users to convert more than 50 types of electronic files into 5 possible outputs:
- Portable Document Format (PDF)
- Multi-page Tagged Image File Format (TIFF)
- Single-page TIFF
- Text
- Machine-translated text
The DocMorph Web site is not only a useful consumer tool, but it also provides the National Library of Medicine (NLM) a research mechanism to evaluate the effectiveness and utility of various document image processing techniques and algorithms.
The file conversion process takes approximately fifteen seconds after files are uploaded to DocMorph. These file conversion functions may be used with a PC, Macintosh, or UNIX computer and a modern Web browser. In order to use DocMorph, please follow these steps:
1. Register to Use DocMorph. All new users must register. Registration is free.
2. Log Into DocMorph. Users are only required to log into DocMorph once per session. DocMorph will automatically log out if DocMorph is not used for one hour.
3. Start Morphing. Choose the DocMorph function and begin.
